Honours & Awards

  • Arthroscopic surgery or arthroscopy is a common surgical procedure to visualize, diagnose, and treat problems inside a joint using a specialized instrument known as an arthroscope

    Benefits of Arthroscopic Surgery

    • Smaller Incisions
    • Lower Risk of Complications
    • Less Postoperative Pain
    • Less Scarring
    • Faster Recovery
  • Total knee replacement is a very successful surgical treatment for knee arthritis. Over the years, minimally invasive knee replacement surgical techniques have been developed to lessen tissue trauma and improve patient outcomes. The potential advantages of minimally invasive joint replacement surgery are

Benefits of Minimally Invasive Knee Joint Replacement

    • Minimal surgical dissection
    • Shorter hospital stay
    • Shorter recovery period
    • Reduced post-operative pain
  • With improved technology and advances in anaesthesia and pain control, hip replacement surgery has evolved and is now being offered in an outpatient setting. Outpatient anterior approach hip replacement refers to surgery accessed from in front of the hip in an outpatient setting.

Some of the benefits of outpatient surgery include:

    • Less pain.
    • Lower cost.
    • Fewer transfusions.
    • Better recovery.
    • Convenience.
    • Safer.
  • Hip trauma is an injury in the hip due to the impact caused by incidents such as a car accident or a hard fall. The injury can be a bone break or dislocation or both. Hip trauma reconstruction is the process of rebuilding and restoring the hip joint.

    Hip trauma reconstruction can:

    • Alleviate hip pain and restore mobility
    • Reduce strain and wear and tear
    • Improve the quality of life
  • Children born with congenital defects such as fibular hemimelia (absence of fibula bone), congenital short femur and hemiatrophy (absence of one side of the body parts) have unequal leg lengths which can be treated with a limb lengthening procedure. Other conditions that can be corrected by limb lengthening procedure include:
    • Growth plate injuries
    • Bone infections resulting in leg length variations
    • Broken bones followed by trauma
    • Replacement of missing bone after the surgical removal of bone tumour and fracture
    • Increasing the stature in dwarfs by lengthening both the legs
  • Computer-assisted hip replacement is an image-guided, minimally invasive surgical procedure to replace your diseased or damaged hip with an artificial device using the assistance of computer software. The system creates and displays images and provides information that aids your surgeon at various stages of the procedure to improve accuracy and results. Some of the potential advantages of computer-assisted hip replacement include:
    • Better accuracy in sizing and positioning of your hip implant
    • Improved functional outcome and stability
    • Improved durability of the implant
    • Reduced risk of leg-length discrepancies
  • Total shoulder replacement surgery is performed to relieve symptoms of severe shoulder pain and disability due to arthritis. In this surgery, the damaged articulating parts of the shoulder joint are removed and replaced with artificial prostheses. Indications for shoulder replacement are:
    • Severe shoulder pain that restricts daily activities
    • Moderate to severe pain during rest
    • Weakness and/or loss of motion
  • Trauma is a broad term describing all types of injuries affecting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, nerves, blood vessels, or bones that most commonly occur during sports, exercise, or any other physical activity. Traumatic injuries may include fractures and dislocations which result in deformities and loss of mobility and function. Treatment options include:
    • Nonsurgical treatments
    • Arthroscopy
    • Percutaneous screw fixation
    • Open reduction and internal fixation
